Russia, catching up on active forms of engineering education - by Aldert Kamp

Last week Aldert Kamp, Co-director of the CDIO, attended the national conference “CDIO Global Initiative in the Russian Educational System” in Surgut. He was invited in his role of CDIO Co-director.

- The conference changed my mind about what progression is made in the reforms at Russian engineering universities. The overall impression is much more positive than I had expected. Universities are doing interesting reforms with full devotion, says Aldert. 

Résumé from the 2017 CDIO Asian Regional Meeting in Thailand

The 2017 CDIO Asian Regional Meeting being hosted by Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi in cooperation with the Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University dated March 13-15, 2017. The meeting aimed to provide opportunities for administrators and educators coming from different universities in Asia to share and discuss education reforms and innovation.

Recognize and award teaching skills

Today research achievements are rewarded higher than teaching. Only 12 % of university staff recognise teaching as important in promotion to professorship, according to Dr Ruth Graham. At the CDIO meeting in Gothenburg pedagogic and professional competence development and promotion at technical universities was discussed.CDIO co-Director Johan Malmqvist

Pedagogical skills and qualifications were on the agenda for the CDIO meeting in Gothenburg on March 8th.
